采用金属有机化学气相沉积（MOCVD）方法来沉积氮化物外延叠层，需要较高的温度和大量的氨气，但是这两个弱点均可以采用一种替代性生长工艺，称之为“Meaglow”技术来加以克服，该项新工艺的开发由加拿大新创立的项目进行。
